Morocco Health Official: Coronavirus Cases May Rise, But Slower Than Other Countries

Mohamed El Youbi, Director of Epidemiology and Disease Control at the Ministry of Health, said that "the number of [coronavirus] cases is likely to increase, but to a lesser extent than in other countries", provided the population respects the lockdown.
"We expect a flattening of the curve of the evolution of cases. We hope so provided that the confinement measures are scrupulously respected by the citizens even within their homes," said Mohamed El Youbi in an interview with MAP.
But the Director of Epidemiology and Disease Control at the Ministry of Health refrained from making forecasts on the epidemic, "since they are based on projections usually based on assumptions which, for the most part, are not very accurate". He explained that any model they use is based on uncertainties and gives an evolution with a confidence interval.
"It is the evolution of the next four or five days that will give us a better precision with regard to the projections we are making with regard to the evolution of the epidemic in Morocco," he added.
