Morocco’s Health Ministry Lacks Critical Data Control System for 5 Years, Report Reveals

The Ministry of Health no longer has a control device for five years due to the lack of adherence of civil servants and the weakness of skills in the field of computer applications. This is revealed in a report on the ineffectiveness of the internal control of the department.
To his great surprise, Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb discovers that the comprehensive and integrated system adopted by his department to ensure the credibility of data relating to the achievement of general objectives such as rationalizing expenditure, respecting laws and preserving heritage no longer works.
As a result, the ministry has not been able to follow each patient or each applicant for care in the public sector over the past five years. Similarly, this situation has reduced the flow of revenue in hospitals and increased spending at the central level, the report on the ineffectiveness of the internal control of the department points out. In other words, the lack of internal control has generated significant losses estimated at millions of dirhams and created new expenses for the management of hospitals.
In addition, hospitals have not optimally benefited from the hospital unit modernization program, the report notes.
