Morocco’s Health Minister Warns of COVID-19 Surge Despite Efforts to Contain Spread

The sharp increase in coronavirus cases in Morocco is of great concern to the Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, who nevertheless believes that "the situation at the national level remains under control".
In response to parliamentarians’ questions about the health situation in the kingdom and the repercussions of the extension of the state of emergency, the minister indicated that "the public authorities are making every effort to try to contain the epidemiological situation and prevent the spread of the epidemic".
"We are in constant contact with partners, with a view to obtaining the new anti-Covid-19 vaccine which, according to the latest data, proves to be very effective and will likely be available before the end of the year," he added.
The arrival of the new vaccine and its distribution to all Moroccans will mark a new episode in the fight against the epidemic, notes the minister. The coming weeks will be decisive, he estimated.
