Morocco’s Health Minister Urges Caution Despite Improved COVID-19 Situation

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb indicated that the epidemiological situation in Morocco is encouraging. However, vigilance must be maintained to avoid a new wave of contamination.
In a press release issued after the government council, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Relations with Parliament, reported that his counterpart from Health presented a positive assessment of the management of the pandemic in recent weeks.
According to him, this tangible improvement is reflected in the continued and peaceful progress of the national vaccination campaign supported by the adoption of the "vaccination pass" for travel and access to public places.
In detail, the number of people who have received at least one dose has reached 24,053,942, or more than 64% of the population, while 21,835,545 have received the two doses, or more than 57.6% of Moroccans, the minister said, adding that 1,263,441 people have received a third booster dose.
In addition, Ait Taleb called for maintaining vigilance and compliance with preventive measures, noting that despite the improvement recorded, Morocco is not immune to a new wave due to the surge in cases of contamination in several countries around the world following the emergence of a new variant.
