Morocco Health Minister: COVID-19 Situation ’Stable’ Despite New Cases

The Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, declared on Friday, July 3, 2020 during a visit to the local prison of Aïn Sebaâ in Casablanca, that the Covid-19 pandemic is under control. A visit that is part of the launch of the baccalaureate exam in prisons by the Minister of Education, Saaïd Amzazi.
"The situation is stable despite the appearance of new cases," reassured Minister Khalid Aït Taleb. "This progression is due to massive screening. We are looking for the virus and asymptomatic carriers."
Asymptomatic carriers represent 98% of cases in Morocco, he specified, adding that the number of positive patients in a serious situation remains low and that Morocco has a mortality rate of 1.8%, one of the lowest in the world. "These data show that the situation remains under control," concluded the minister.
