Morocco’s Health Minister Addresses Spike in COVID-19 Cases Post-Lockdown

The Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, spoke on Tuesday, July 7, on the epidemiological situation and the post-containment measures in Morocco.
The minister explained that the increase in coronavirus infection cases is the consequence of the transition to the second phase of easing containment measures. This increase is also due to the expansion of screening and the detection of several industrial outbreaks, particularly that of Lalla Mimouna in Kénitra, the Renault plant in Tangier, the fish factories in Safi and in the south of the kingdom, he specified.
However, Khalid Ait Taleb reassures that the royal guidelines have made it possible to control the epidemiological situation. Morocco ranks 63rd worldwide in terms of the number of coronavirus infections.
As of Tuesday, July 7, the report shows 14,607 cases, 10,639 recoveries, 240 deaths and 3,728 cases under treatment. Commenting on this report, the minister indicates that the infection rate is 0.03% and 99% of the recorded cases are asymptomatic.
