Morocco Grapples with Repatriation of 277 Nationals from ISIS Camps in Syria and Iraq

There are nearly 300 Moroccan nationals in the camps run by the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. Morocco is following their cases.
In total, 277 Moroccans are placed in the camps in Syria and Iraq, according to the Moroccan Minister of the Interior. In detail, there are 182 children, 65 men and 30 women. According to the department of Abdelouafi Laftit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the security authorities are following the cases of these Moroccan citizens in these camps.
Will Morocco be able to ensure the repatriation of these nationals who have joined the terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq? According to the ministry, the repatriation process is one of the biggest challenges facing the kingdom.
This year, Morocco was able to repatriate about 117 Moroccans from Syria and Iraq. Among them, 25 Moroccan nationals affiliated with the Islamic State who were brought to justice.
