Morocco’s New Government: PAM Member Poised for Key Diaspora Affairs Role

As Aziz Akhannouch is about to unveil the composition of his governing coalition, a member of the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM) is expected to be appointed as Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad.
Mehdi Bensaid is the name of the PAM member who could be proposed to hold the portfolio of Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad, reports Assabah. If his appointment were to be confirmed, he would replace Nezha El Ouafi, appointed to this position on October 9, 2019.
Following the legislative elections of September 8, the National Rally of Independents (RNI) came out largely ahead by winning 102 seats, followed by the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (86 seats) and the Istiqlal Party (81 seats). Pending the announcement of the new government to be led by Aziz Akhannouch, the composition of the governing majority is now known. It holds 269 of the 395 seats in the House of Representatives.
