Morocco Funds $7 Million for New Grand Mosque Construction in Abidjan

Morocco has released more than 77 million dirhams (over 7 million euros) for the construction of the Mohammed VI mosque in Abidjan.
This fund will be used to finance the craft work of coating, plastering, woodworking, traditional ironwork, lighting in addition to painting and metal and aluminum joinery, reports Maghreb intelligence. The Moroccan Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has awarded this contract to the company SOTCOB based in Salé.
In March 2017, King Mohammed VI and the President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, had launched the construction work of this mosque. Once built, this religious building will have a capacity to accommodate 7,000 worshippers, and will be composed, among other things, of a Koranic school.
