Morocco-France Tech Talent Exodus Sparks Debate on ’Win-Win’ Agreement

600 to 800 IT engineers flee Morocco each year to join the French job market. This exodus is motivated above all by the attractive recruitment policy for talents: French Tech Visa.
The brain drain of Moroccan talents benefits France more than Morocco. This massive migration of digital talents has been the subject of a debate between the Moroccan Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and the Economy, Moulay Hafid ElAlamy and the French Secretary of State for Digital, Cédric O.
"Today in Tech, the French can count a lot on Moroccan talents, but it has to be done in a win-win way," the French minister told the Moroccan press.
The objective is to sign an agreement that will guarantee young Moroccan talents a training program in France, so that they can then return to Morocco and benefit the local job market. The vice-president of APEBI hopes that France will follow in the footsteps of Belgium and start funding the training of at least a thousand young people per year.
As for Moulay Hafid ElAlamy, he has committed to "ensuring that our youth who are interested in innovation and digital are strongly supported, and that they have possibilities and options, including the internationalization of start-ups".
