Morocco’s Former Royal Castle in France Listed for $180 Million

The former castle of King Mohammed VI, inherited from his father, the late Hassan II, located in the commune of Gretz-Armainvilliers, in Seine-et-Marne, is considered the most expensive property for sale in France. One of the most prosperous companies in the luxury real estate sector is looking for a buyer.
The former castle of King Mohammed VI has been put up for sale for 180 million euros. "On the French market, it is certainly the most expensive property for sale at the moment," confides Brigitte Kahan, the agent in charge of the file, to the Journal du Net. "It is probably the most lavish and unusual property that exists in France," will say Martin Kretz, associate director of the real estate agency Kretz in the reality TV show "L’Agence".
This Anglo-Norman style manor was built in 1884 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in place of the old 17th century building, on an area of 1,100 hectares of land. The estate extends over two other villages, Tournan-en-Brie and Favières, on the edge of an artificial lake one kilometer long. In the 1990s, the former King of Morocco, Hassan II, had fallen under the spell of this grand residence. He becomes the owner and transforms it into a resplendent palace. The manor consists of 2,500 square meters of living space, 100 rooms, a hairdressing salon, five lounges, hunting rooms, a medical complex, European and Moroccan kitchens, cold rooms, grocery stores, 36 outbuildings, vegetable gardens, three elevators, a hammam, 17 bedrooms, traditional dining rooms, etc.
