Morocco’s Foreign Ministry Sends Mixed Signals on 2020 Diaspora Return Plan

In 48 hours, the Marhaba 2020 operation was the subject of two contradictory speeches from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
Nacer Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had announced at the beginning of the week the cancellation of the operation to return Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE), due to the epidemiological situation in Morocco and the countries concerned.
48 hours later, the Delegate Minister in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nezha El Ouafi, presented a report on the main actions taken by her department to ensure the success of the 2020 transit operation before the parliamentary commission of Moroccans Residing Abroad.
A situation, according to the site Anfaspress, which risks sowing confusion among the members of the Moroccan community abroad, impatient to find their loved ones after a difficult confinement.
