Morocco’s Foreign Minister Meets UN Envoy on Libya Crisis

The Libyan crisis was at the heart of the exchanges between Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, and Ghassan Salameh, a special representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya, on Saturday, January 25.
The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General briefed Nasser Bourita on the latest developments in the situation in Libya during this meeting.
Ghassan Salameh acknowledged the efforts of Morocco in favor of resolving the Libyan crisis. In this sense, he thanked the kingdom for its support for the United Nations’ efforts in Libya and the joint effort to restore peace and security in this country.
On January 18, Morocco was surprised by its exclusion from the conference on the Libyan crisis, held in Berlin on January 19. "The Kingdom of Morocco does not understand the criteria or the motivations that presided over the choice of the countries participating in this meeting," said a statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
