Morocco’s Foreign Minister Calls for Dialogue to Mend Strained Relations with Algeria

The Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, has again spoken about the relations between Morocco and Algeria. These relations are not the best, acknowledges the Moroccan diplomat, while hoping to see the two countries in better terms.
Nasser Bourita, in an interview with the Emirati channel Sky News Arabia on Sunday, October 11, spoke about Morocco’s positions on various issues. The relations between Morocco and Algeria were among the topics discussed. The minister stated that Morocco had advocated dialogue with the Algerian authorities. As proof, he recalls that in 2018, King Mohammed VI had sent a message inviting Algeria to a "direct and frank" dialogue to end the problems between the two countries.
Morocco has always shown the "policy of good neighborliness with all its neighbors, especially those to the North and South (Spain and Mauritania)," stressed the diplomat, who hopes to see Morocco and Algeria improve their relations.
It should be noted that recently, the Algerian Head of State, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sent a message to the King of Morocco. On the Sahrawi issue, the Algerian president affirmed that "the policy of fait accompli is in vain. Forty-five years have already passed without a solution being found." For him, "the referendum on self-determination is the only way out."
