Morocco’s Food Safety Office Urges Families to Keep Sheep Tags After Eid al-Adha Slaughter

The National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) raises awareness among Moroccans on the need to keep the identification tags of sheep after slaughter.
In the eyes of the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA), keeping the identification tags of sheep after slaughter is of paramount importance. In a message posted on its Facebook page, ONSSA urges families to keep the sacrifice ring after slaughter.
This call from ONSSA is part of its awareness-raising and incentive actions to respect the rules of hygiene and food safety before, during and after the celebration of Eid al-Adha, marked by the slaughter of the sheep.
Why this conservation measure? It must be noted that the phenomenon of greening of sheep carcasses has intensified in the last two years. As a result, the intervention of the Office’s services and the opening of complaint files are conditional on the presentation of the identification tag of the sheep after slaughter.
According to ONSSA’s explanations, the tag makes it possible to identify not only the origin of the animal but also the person responsible for its breeding and its buyer.
