Morocco's Field Hospital in Beirut Treats Hundreds After Deadly Explosion

Morocco has deployed a military field hospital in Beirut to provide care to the victims of the explosion that shook Lebanon a few days ago. A total of 1,680 services have been provided to 791 patients and 12 surgical operations have been performed there.

This military field hospital is part of the aid that Morocco has decided to provide to Lebanon, following this tragedy that has "taken the majority of the capital". 171 deaths and more than 6,000 injured are deplored. Just for Wednesday, August 12, "nearly 300 patients were treated by Moroccan surgeons, resuscitators, pediatricians, ophthalmologists, trauma specialists, pharmacists and nurses in difficult conditions due to the coronavirus pandemic". 140 people in total are fighting to care for "a population devastated by the tragedy of rare violence, caused by some 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored for several years in the port of Beirut".

In addition to health care, Morocco has also transported Moroccan food aid that has been "distributed directly in the most devastated neighborhoods of the Lebanese capital". 295 tons of food have been sent by the kingdom. In addition, Morocco has sent 11 tons of coronavirus prevention products, 10 tons of medicines and 11 tons of logistics equipment. The aid sent to Lebanon includes "medical equipment, including protective masks, visors, gowns, and hand sanitizer," the authorities said.
