Morocco Faces Over 5 Million Cyber Attacks in Q2, Ranks 34th Globally in Web Threats

The second quarter for Morocco in terms of cybersecurity was marked by more than 5 million attacks, according to a press release from the antivirus network, Kaspersky security network.

During this period, more than 30% of users were attacked by threats carried by the web, thus positioning Morocco in 34th place worldwide in terms of dangers related to web browsing.

With the results from this report, obtained from this network, three strong trends are noted in Morocco, namely social engineering, local threats and the role of servers hosted on the territory.

According to medias24.com, this report lays bare the attacks via browsers which constitute the main method of spreading malware.

Pascal Naudin, BtoB Sales Director of Kaspersky in North Africa, commenting on this finding, justified: "Our conclusions for the second quarter of 2019 lead us to recommend once again an awareness-raising work with Moroccans, in order to inform them about the key role of computer security".

To this end, he notifies that most threats can be warded off thanks to simple reflexes and good habits to adopt.

According to the Kaspersky bulletin, a specialist in computer system security, 5,061,044 incidents related to malware downloaded from the internet were detected between April and June 2019, recalls the same media.

It specifies that during the second quarter of 2019, Kaspersky solutions also detected 15,156,602 local malware incidents on computers using the Kaspersky security network in Morocco.

In total, 52.9% of users were victims of local threats between April and June, positioning, among other things, Morocco in 61st place worldwide.
