Morocco Faces COVID-19 Surge Risk as Delta Variant Spreads and Summer Travel Increases

The summer season as well as the easing of restrictive measures expose Morocco to a resurgence of Covid-19 cases, particularly in these times of spread of the Delta variant, which is very contagious. This is what Dr. Tayeb Hamdi, researcher in health policies and systems and vice-president of the National Federation of Health, declares in an interview with Challenge.
According to Dr. Tayeb Hamdi, the Delta variant is already worrying Morocco and all the countries of the world, since, like any variant, preventive measures cannot prevent its appearance in the country. At best, they only slow down its spread and reduce the number of imported cases.
The risk is high for Morocco at this summer period, with the opening of borders, the return of Moroccans living abroad (Marhaba 2021), and tourists, the movements of the population, the multiplication of the Delta virus in neighboring countries in Spain, Portugal, Tunisia, Great Britain, and everywhere, which means that it is possible to import one of the variants, the Delta or another, explains the specialist.
