Morocco Extends Tax Filing Deadline for Small Businesses Amid Economic Challenges

Companies with a turnover of less than 20 MDH can now benefit from the postponement of tax returns and the payment of taxes, from March 31 to June 30. The measure, adopted on March 19 by the Economic Monitoring Committee (CVE), is implemented by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI).
For the filing of declarations of the fiscal result for the 2019 financial year, the deadline of June 30 is maintained, indicates the DGI in a press release.
With regard to the payment deadlines that the population will not be able to honor due to cash flow difficulties, it has been decided to suspend the application of increases, fines and penalties relating to spontaneous payments of rights due no later than September 30, 2020.
Also, an exceptional measure of leniency has been taken by the Economic Monitoring Committee (CVE) for the benefit of individuals at its meeting on April 14; which allows to postpone the deadline for the annual declaration of global income referred to in Article 82 of the CGI as well as the payment of the corresponding rights, from April 30 to June 30, specifies the same source.
Similarly, taxpayers subject to income tax on their 2019 professional income, calculated according to the actual net income regime or the simplified net income regime, and/or on their agricultural income, can benefit from the measure relating to the payment of taxes, if and only if the payment of the rights due is made no later than September 30, 2020.
No formality is required for the taxpayers concerned to benefit from this measure, concludes the press release which recalls that this action is part of the support for companies in order to mitigate the adverse effects of covid-19 on economic activity.
