Morocco Extends Suspension of Friday Mosque Prayers Amid COVID-19 Concerns

Friday prayer in mosques will remain suspended, as long as the health situation remains unchanged, said the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq.
Moroccans will, for the time being, have to be content with prayer at home, because "with the large number of worshipers during the jumu’a, barrier gestures are difficult to respect," the minister stressed.
"In the event of a positive Covid-19 control, all the faithful will have to be tested, he added, specifying that even in open spaces, preventive measures will be difficult to apply, in particular the taking of temperature".
In short, the performance of Friday prayer in mosques will remain dependent on the epidemiological situation in the country, and will depend on the assessment of the health authorities.
