Morocco Extends Price Controls on Hand Sanitizers Amid COVID-19 Surge

The prices of hydroalcoholic gels will remain unchanged for the next six months in the Kingdom. This is a decision of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform, after consultation with the Competition Council.
The decision, published in the latest Official Bulletin, has been in effect since September 16, 2020, after the first six months recommended by the Competition Council on March 16. This six-month extension is in reference to the resurgence of the epidemic crisis in several cities of the Kingdom.
It comes to mark a brake on any speculative momentum and make the product accessible and at a reasonable cost to all Moroccans.
Thus, during this period, the prices of hydroalcoholic gels, both at wholesalers and retailers, are capped at 15 dirhams for a 50 ml bottle or less, i.e. 300 dirhams per liter.
