Morocco Extends International Travel Restrictions Amid COVID-19 Concerns

Morocco has extended restrictions on long-distance travel, particularly travel abroad, due to the covid-19 pandemic.
After extending the date of the suspension of flights until May 31, the Moroccan government has also decided on the fate of long-distance travel or trips abroad. For the authorities, there is no need to rush to announce a date for the resumption of these trips. According to officials, it is better to play the card of caution and extend the warning on travel around the world. They also believe that the evolution of the pandemic could change things in the coming months.
In the meantime, the time should be for discussions with partners in general, and Europeans in particular.
It should be noted that restrictions on travel abroad, in these times of pandemic, have been carried out in several countries, including Morocco which has completely closed its airspace. This blocks the repatriation flights of foreigners wishing to return to their countries, in addition to quarantine measures in force in most states.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Morocco is still struggling to repatriate its nationals stranded in other countries, while several countries have managed to do so. To date, more than 18,000 Moroccans are still blocked in other countries around the world. The kingdom is still hesitant about the opportunity to carry out these repatriations, at a time when it is waging a fierce battle against the virus in the country.
This measure could jeopardize the travel plans of many Moroccans, most of whom are globetrotters.
