Morocco Extends Distance Learning, Postpones Spring Break Amid Education Reforms

The Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research has taken new measures. These are the continuation of distance learning and the postponement of the spring holidays.
Teaching and learning will continue through television channels, dedicated digital content or the organization of virtual classes on various electronic platforms, the ministry said in a statement.
Similarly, the spring holidays will be postponed for all training cycles under the departments of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research.
These measures aim to allow students to continue distance learning and to pursue the scheduled courses, the source specifies, stressing that academic support courses will be gradually integrated in the coming weeks.
They are in line with the preventive measures taken by the Moroccan authorities to curb the spread of the coronavirus, including confinement. It is a question of "ensuring pedagogical continuity and avoiding the negative impacts that the interruption of classes could have on school performance".
