Morocco Extends Deadline for Pre-2010 Electronic Driving License Renewals

Vehicle drivers, holders of a driving license, before October 1, 2010, are not required to renew it before September 30, 2020, announced the State Secretariat for Transport.
In a press release, the State Secretariat for Transport stated that the 2010 Road Code, which came into effect on October 1, 2010, provided for this measure. Indeed, the driving license is subject to a validity period of ten years and, thus, those issued on an electronic medium and issued before October 1, 2010 must, therefore, be renewed at the end of this period.
In other words, citizens holding the electronic license before October 1, 2010, the date of entry into force of law 52-05 relating to the Road Code, are not required to renew it before September 30, 2020, the same press release specifies.
Furthermore, the State Secretariat for Transport indicates the procedure to be followed for the renewal of the driving license. Citizens can collect forms from the Mines service of their city of residence, pay a stamp duty of 400 dirhams to the Tax Department and undergo a medical examination. Then they must submit the file to the Mines service. Finally, they will receive the receipt which serves as a provisional license.
