Morocco Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency Until August 10

Morocco is preparing to extend the state of health emergency until August 10, 2021. The decision will be made official during the government council on Thursday, July 8.
The state of health emergency will be extended on July 10 until August 10, 2021, government sources tell Le360. The executive has already validated this decision. It will be made official during the government council on Thursday, July 8, 2021. On the agenda of this weekly meeting: the examination of three draft decrees, the first of which relates to the extension of the duration of the state of health emergency in Morocco.

This new extension has proven necessary, as the kingdom is currently facing a resurgence of coronavirus infection cases. The Minister of Health has constantly called on citizens to strictly respect the health measures enacted in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants in the kingdom. As of July 5, the Covid-19 report shows 534,797 infections, 520,107 recoveries and 9,329 deaths.
