Morocco Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency to October 10

The Moroccan government has decided to extend the state of health emergency until October 10. This decision was made during the cabinet meeting held this Monday in Rabat.
Meeting in council this Monday, the government proceeded to the examination and adoption of a draft decree extending the state of health emergency throughout the national territory, reports Le360. This project, which aims to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the measures taken in the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, was presented by the Minister of the Interior. The state of health emergency is now extended until October 10.
This draft decree specifies that the government authority in charge of the Interior is empowered to take, in light of the epidemiological situation, all appropriate measures at the national level. As for the walis of the regions and the governors of the prefectures and provinces, they will have to take all the necessary executive measures at the level of a prefecture, province, commune or more to maintain public health order.
As of August 22, the Covid-19 report shows 810,949 cases of contamination, 724,545 recoveries and 11,792 deaths.
