Morocco Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency as Cases Rise

Morocco is extending the state of health emergency until January 10th. This was decided by the Council of Government, following the resurgence of Covid-19 infections.
During the Council of Government, a new draft decree was adopted to ratify this decision. This draft stipulates that this decision was made as part of the efforts deployed by the health authorities to fight the spread of the new coronavirus.
Thus, this draft decree authorizes the Ministry of the Interior to take all practical measures nationwide in view of the epidemiological situation. It also calls on the walis of the regions and the governors of the prefectures and provinces to take all necessary coercive measures at the level of each prefecture, province, and municipality to maintain public health order.
As of Wednesday, December 2, 2020, Morocco had 364,190 cases, 5,985 deaths and 314,237 recoveries.
