Morocco Extends COVID-19 State of Emergency Amid Surge in Cases

Morocco has just extended, for the sixth consecutive time, the state of health emergency. This decision is motivated by the sharp increase in coronavirus infections.
This new extension covers the period from November 10 at 6 p.m. to December 10 at 6 p.m., according to draft decree 2.20.788. It was decided as part of the government’s efforts to counter Covid-19, says Saaïd Amzazi, government spokesman.
The same press release authorizes the Minister of the Interior to take strong measures in view of the national epidemiological situation. As for the walis and governors, they are invited to initiate the necessary executive measures at the level of a prefecture, province, municipality or more, in order to maintain public health order.
As of Thursday, November 5, the Kingdom has 235,310 cases of contamination, 3,982 deaths and 193,886 recovered patients.
