Morocco Extends COVID-19 Curfew and Precautionary Measures for Two Weeks

Morocco has just extended the precautionary measures adopted on January 13 by two weeks. This decision, which takes effect this Tuesday, February 2, and until February 16, aims to fight against the spread of Covid-19.
In a statement, the government notes that this measure was taken following the recommendations of the Scientific and Technical Commission regarding the need to maintain the necessary measures to fight the coronavirus, particularly after the evolution of this pandemic worldwide, following the appearance of new variants of the virus in some neighboring countries.
According to the same statement, this decision comes as part of the ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the virus and limit its negative repercussions. The measures concern, among other things, the closure of restaurants, cafes, shops and large stores at 8 p.m. throughout Morocco. Since Wednesday, January 13, snacks and restaurants have reopened after three weeks of closure.
In addition, the night curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day nationwide, except in exceptional cases, as well as the ban on parties and public or private gatherings are maintained until further notice.
