Morocco Explores Local Production of Russian Sputnik V COVID-19 Vaccine

The head of the Galenica laboratories has assured that Morocco could manufacture its own vaccine and include it in the list of vaccines ordered for the Covid-19 vaccination campaign.
The first batch of these vaccines submitted to the Sputnik V program will soon be transported to Morocco, reports L’Economiste. The Galenica laboratories are handling the steps leading not only to the purchase but also to the production of this vaccine in Morocco.
For Abdelghani El Guermaï, the boss of Galenica, his laboratories will take care of all the regulatory procedures to obtain the marketing authorization (MA) for the Sputnik V vaccine. "Then, depending on the requests of the Ministry of Health, these laboratories will take charge of all the logistics including the import, storage and distribution to the vaccination centers that will be designated," says the boss of Galenica to the daily.
"The only Moroccan-African pharmaceutical laboratory certified GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) in Russia", it could also locally produce the vaccine. "It is conceivable, we have moreover planned it in our agreement with our Russian partners. Nevertheless, such a project will require an in-depth study justifying the necessary investments since this project will concern the needs of Morocco and other countries, especially African," he confides.
