Morocco Experts Discuss Post-Lockdown Strategies in Virtual Conference

The Development Center of the Tensift Region (CDRT) organized on Thursday a videoconference that looked at the various scenarios related to deconfinement in Morocco. The panelists made proposals for a successful deconfinement.
This virtual conference, which comes at the right time, provides an opportunity for participants to review the state of the new coronavirus pandemic. Particular emphasis was placed on "the different scenarios related to the possible deconfinement at the national level". Among other concerns, "the preventive measures and directives adopted by the State to curb the spread of covid-19, such as the closure of borders and the establishment of the state of health emergency, were discussed. Participants noted that "many citizens have complied with the rules adopted to enforce compliance with confinement," while others have "behaved irresponsibly," causing the number of infection hotspots to explode, reports the MAP.
On another note, the speakers at the videoconference "welcomed the significant increase in the number of tests carried out in the microbiological laboratories, spread throughout the national territory." They also unanimously agreed that "a gradual deconfinement should be initiated as soon as the circumstances allow, that is, as soon as a significant improvement in the epidemiological situation is noted." At the same time, they made certain recommendations to enable Morocco to succeed in deconfinement. This is how they recommended "the implementation of a deconfinement taking into account the degree of contamination recorded at the level of each region".
They considered it essential that before any deconfinement, it is important to "equip businesses, companies and all administrations, with the necessary hygiene means and tools, in order to be able to curb the spread of the new coronavirus". The participants also spoke in favor of "restricting circulation authorizations to the maximum". They particularly advocated "in favor of support, at the level of the city of Marrakech, for the strategic and pillar sectors of the local economy, namely tourism and crafts," considered to be the most affected by this health crisis that the kingdom is going through.
