Morocco Expels Dozens of Algerian and Tunisian Migrants Near Spanish Enclave

The Moroccan authorities have, in recent days, expelled 39 Algerian and Tunisian migrants in an irregular situation on the territory. These individuals, arrested near the city of Fnideq, had intended to illegally reach the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
According to security sources, the expulsions were carried out in two stages: five people were sent back to Tunisia last Wednesday, followed by 34 others on Sunday. All the flights took off from Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport.
Due to the breakdown of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Algeria, the Algerian nationals were repatriated via Tunisia, in the absence of direct air links between the two countries.
Alongside these expulsions, the Moroccan law enforcement authorities conducted a large-scale operation to monitor social media, targeting content inciting illegal immigration. Between September 9 and 11, 60 people, including minors, were arrested in Tangier and Tetouan for disseminating false information on social media, particularly about a planned collective border crossing with Ceuta on September 15.
