Morocco Expands Women's Roles in Armed Forces, Trains Military Social Workers

Morocco is developing a new approach to military service, and this with women. It is the Center for Instruction of Social Services (CISS) of the Royal Armed Forces in Témara, which provides training for these military women, destined for the career of military social workers as women officers and non-commissioned officers.

The missions of the military social worker can be understood in relation to participation in a series of operations, including the deployment of field hospitals, in order to provide the necessary assistance to the inhabitants of remote areas, through orientation and awareness-raising actions, the determination of needs and interventions, not to mention the organization and facilitation of the transit operation of Moroccans from abroad, explains Lieutenant Oumnia Moktassid.

Military women also intervene in the field of military social service, by assuming multiple responsibilities within the Royal Armed Forces in various specializations, said Ms. Moktassid, whose remarks were reported by La Map.

Furthermore, the officer Zineb El Ghazi, for her part, mainly observed a strong presence of women in the field of military action, particularly within the social services of the Royal Armed Forces. According to her, these are various tasks, including the signing of comprehensive medical and social assistance agreements, the implementation of an assistance and support system, focused on the provision of financial assistance to the military, or a social, real estate or other loan.
