Morocco Expands Speed Camera Network: Casablanca Leads with 41 New Urban Installations

Since December, the Ministry of Transport has proceeded to identify the number of speed cameras throughout Morocco, both inside and outside urban areas.
This decision signed by the Minister of Transport, Mohamed Abdeljalil, was published in the official journal.
In detail, it is Casablanca that will be equipped with the largest number of road cameras. 41 sites for the installation of automatic speed cameras in urban areas have been identified, the document indicates.
In other cities, the minister has planned to install 12 in the prefecture of Rabat, 9 in the prefecture of Salé, 8 in the prefecture of Skhirat-Temara, 14 in the prefecture of Kénitra, two sites in the province of Khemisset and Larache, three sites in the province of Tétouan, 14 in the prefecture of Tanger-Asilah, 11 in the prefecture of Fès, 9 in the prefecture of Meknès, 8 in the prefecture of Oujda-Angad, 6 in the province of Nador, and two in the prefecture of Mohammedia.
Regarding speed meters, in urban areas, the decision lists four sites for the installation of new devices in the province of Settat, 6 in the province of El Jadida, two sites in the province of Khouribga, 6 in the province of Safi, 18 sites in the prefecture of Marrakech, and one site in the prefectures of Errachidia, Ouarzazate, Taroudant and Tiznit.
In the provinces, 5 sites have been identified in Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, two sites in the province of Guelmim, one site in the province of Tan-Tan and 3 sites in the province of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, the document states, specifying that these new American-made devices, acquired by Morocco, will make it possible to monitor the speed of vehicles on national roads and in cities, given the high number of accidents recorded in recent years, and the resulting victims.
To recall, the Ministry of Equipment announced that a total of 140 mobile radars and more than 140 fixed radars have been made available to the National Security and Royal Gendarmerie services.
