During the presentation of his 2022 budget to the House of Advisors last week, the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Taoufik, reviewed the achievements for this year. He adds that 853 million dirhams (82 million euros) have been allocated for the management and maintenance of mosques and for the construction of new places of worship in the kingdom. Thus, the government has financed the construction of about fifteen mosques, both in urban areas, particularly "in popular neighborhoods to eliminate places of worship in poor condition," and in rural areas, he specifies.
Abroad, the government has built the Mohammed VI Mosque in Conakry (Guinea) and the Chenguit Mosque in Mauritania. It has also rehabilitated the Mohammed VI Mosque in Yamoussoukro (Côte d’Ivoire).
