Morocco Expands Military Capabilities with Major Equipment Acquisition

The health crisis has not prevented Morocco from continuing its policy of strengthening its military equipment. According to the website Défense, the kingdom signed new contracts in 2020 for the acquisition of a significant amount of materials and equipment for the benefit of the Royal Armed Forces.
Morocco has ordered around 300 VLRA vehicles from the French company Arquus, says Emmanuel Levancher, CEO of the company, one of the largest arms suppliers to Morocco.
These light vehicles, with the appearance of a small truck, have a range of 1,400 kilometers and a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour. They consist of a cabin that can accommodate two soldiers (a driver and a co-driver) and a van that can transport between 12 and 19 soldiers.
For several years, Morocco has been strengthening and modernizing its armed forces with various state-of-the-art equipment acquired from the United States, France, and even the People’s Republic of China.
