Morocco Expands Dirham Flexibility in IMF-Backed Currency Reform

Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, welcomes the ongoing reform of the Moroccan exchange rate regime, stating that an important step is being taken to improve the flexibility of the dirham.
"In partnership with the IMF, we are closely monitoring the evolution of each stage of the dirham floating process," Nadia Fettah told Sky News Arabia, on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank meetings held from April 15 to 20 in Washington. The national treasurer added that the fluctuation band is currently limited to 5% and that it does not "require intervention from the central bank".
