Morocco Expands COVID-19 Vaccination to All Pregnant Women Amid Rising Deaths

Health Minister Khalid Aït Taleb sent a letter to regional directors on Tuesday, August 17, announcing the update of recommendations regarding the vaccination of pregnant women.
In this letter, the Minister of Health stressed that pregnant women should be a priority target for Covid-19 vaccination. Previously intended for women from the fourth month of pregnancy, vaccination is now extended to all pregnant women, regardless of the stage of pregnancy. The minister announced that since the beginning of August, five cases of death of pregnant women have been reported.
Khalid Ait Taleb specifies that pregnant women tend to develop severe forms of Covid-19. The increase in contamination cases recorded in their ranks would be due to the new Delta variant as well as their low vaccination rate.
