Morocco Expands COVID-19 Vaccination to 25-29 Age Group Amid Case Surge

With the surge in Covid-19 cases in Morocco, vaccination against Covid-19 has been extended to people aged 25 to 29. Awareness and awareness campaigns are multiplying and new restrictive measures have come into effect. Today, there is no question that this third wave of contamination will destroy the efforts made since 2019.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the local authorities, is waging a real offensive against the coronavirus in order to make the third wave of contamination less virulent. To achieve this, the authorities have opted to open vaccination centers from Monday to Sunday until 8:00 p.m.
There is also the diversification of vaccines, especially with the reception, as part of the Covax program, of a first batch of the American vaccine manufactured by Johnson & Johnson. The main feature of this vaccine is that it is single-dose.
Among other measures, there is also the establishment of a night curfew between 11:00 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. in all regions of the country. However, the strengthening of restrictive measures does not prohibit inter-city travel as rumors on social networks would have us believe.
The Ministry of Health stresses that the restrictive measures decided by the government and which came into effect on Friday, July 23, are limited, for the moment, to the night curfew, the conditioning of travel between prefectures and provinces to the presentation of the vaccination passport or an administrative travel authorization issued by the competent territorial authorities. There is also the ban on parties and weddings, as well as funerals. A maximum of 10 people are allowed to participate in burial ceremonies.
In addition, a maximum of 50% of the capacity has been decided for cafes and restaurants, public transport and public swimming pools, while an administrative authorization is required for gatherings and activities in open spaces.
