Morocco Expands COVID-19 Testing in Factories and Prisons to Combat Outbreaks

The Ministry of Health has launched sampling screening in factories and prisons, in an attempt to fight the covid-19 contamination outbreaks that have been developing in these units in recent days.
In a note dated April 22, the measures taken by the ministry were communicated. It is a matter of expanding the detection tests by sampling, at the level of factories and prisons of the kingdom. It all started with the appearance of hundreds of positive cases tested in industrial units and prisons. These units were becoming hotbeds of contamination. The objective is to fight against the spread of covid-19, reports L’Économiste which specifies that for the implementation of this response plan, medical teams have been mobilized.
Specialized medical consultations and samples will be taken on site, the ministry’s note specifies. Also, it is recommended not to exceed 10 samples per entity, according to a homogeneous sample and taking into account the architectural organization and the management of flows.
During the screening, a form validated by the Ministries of Industry, Health and Employment will be filled out to examine the preventive measures to fight against the coronavirus within the entities. It will also make it possible to assess the risk of spread within these industrial units. The Ministries of Industry, Health and Employment have announced that the control of compliance with hygiene rules within these units will be ensured by permanent joint commissions. This will help fight the emergence of new outbreaks of contamination.
