Morocco Evacuates 40 Citizens from Libya as Violence Escalates

As the situation deteriorates in Libya and there are more than 250 dead and more than 1,200 wounded, we learn from media sources that Morocco has just repatriated forty Moroccans. This happened this weekend.
The Le360 site specifies right away: "The Moroccan authorities repatriated, over the past weekend, a group of 40 of our nationals living in Libya. According to government sources, it is a group of men, women, but also children who were able to return to the motherland thanks to the efforts of Moroccan diplomacy and in coordination with the Libyan authorities."
According to the same media, this is just the beginning and other repatriation operations are planned, "with a priority for vulnerable categories such as women and children." These operations would also be coordinated by the ministry in charge of Moroccans living abroad. But the site does not specify who is coordinating these actions on the Libyan side.
It should be noted that between April 4 and 22, at least 254 people were killed and 1,228 others injured in clashes between the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) and the Libyan National Army (LNA) in Tripoli. These figures are from a report published on Monday by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In addition, the UN deplored on Monday "a daily intensification" of violent clashes south of Tripoli and the use of heavy artillery and bombings against very populated neighborhoods.
