Morocco Establishes National Committee to Boost Disaster Prevention Efforts

The Moroccan government has just set up a Steering Committee for natural disaster prevention programs. One of the main projects of this body will be the development of internal regulations.
This document will have to define the methods for implementing prevention programs. It will also have to set the models for preparing the minutes of the Steering Committee meetings and the annual report on the prevention programs implemented.
Thus, there will be a national commission responsible for the selection of projects with the mission of ensuring compliance with the rules of transparency and competition between project holders.
The Steering Committee and the one responsible for the selection of projects will now be supported by a general secretariat.
All these measures come in addition to the other mechanisms already in place and dedicated to covering the consequences of catastrophic events and managing compensation for victims.
