Morocco Establishes Military Aviation Directorate to Oversee Air Force Operations

Morocco has created, within the General Staff of the [Royal Armed Forces (FAR)], the Directorate of Military Aeronautics (DAM). It will be responsible, among other things, for the training of Royal Air Force personnel and military flight authorizations.
The draft creation of this directorate and the draft implementation of a "system of airworthiness of military aircraft" were approved by the Council of Ministers at its session of October 18, chaired by King Mohammed VI. The main mission of the Directorate of Military Aeronautics (DAM) is to organize and regulate the entire military aviation sector. "No military aircraft can take off without the authorization of its board of directors," says Le360.
The DAM will carry out checks on aeronautical components such as engines, propellers and other spare parts and equipment supplied by public or private service providers, and will set up a national register for this purpose. It will also be responsible for the exclusive control and management of military airports and will have to give its opinion before the start of construction or rehabilitation work on such an infrastructure.
Its areas of competence also concern the training of personnel of the Royal Air Force, the Moroccan air force, the validation of diplomas obtained abroad, and the control of the aptitude certificates of this personnel.
