Morocco Erects 8.2km Anti-Migrant Barrier at Spanish Border, Ceuta Officials Approve

Erected with barbed wire and deployed over 8.2km, following agreements negotiated with the European Union, providing for the granting of 140 million euros to the Kingdom, the new border barrier aims to ensure tighter control at the borders between Spain and Morocco.
No more exit for migrants at the Moroccan and Spanish borders. This is the wish of the local authorities by setting up, at the border with the enclave, a barbed wire wall, erected 3 meters high and equipped with four cables and blades.
This initiative, which puts an end to the parade that is often observed on the part of migrants in these prohibited areas, has been strongly approved by the Spanish authorities. For Salvadora Mateos, Government Delegate in Ceuta, the new border fence is the ideal solution, "a retaining wall", to counter the assault of migrants on the edges of the Spanish borders.
It should be remembered that this statement by the Delegate refers to the completion of the installation of the Moroccan border barrier, parallel to the one on the Spanish side. They began in early 2019. The fencing of this barrier, located near the Tarajal beach, extends to the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar.
