Morocco Enters Third Phase of Reopening as COVID-19 Restrictions Ease

Morocco has decided, since last June, to gradually initiate its deconfinement. After the first two stages, the Kingdom moved, this Sunday, July 19 at midnight, to the third phase of deconfinement.
From tomorrow, Monday, July 20, Morocco will take another step in deconfinement. According to the government, this decision comes into effect as part of the easing of containment measures put in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus. This includes:
• Allow hotel facilities to use 100% of their accommodation capacity, not exceeding 50% of their capacity in common areas (restaurants, swimming pools, gyms...).
• Allow public transport vehicles, within cities but also between cities, to operate at 75% of their capacity.
• Authorize the holding of sporting events without an audience.
• Allow gatherings not exceeding 20 people.
• Reopen cultural centers, libraries, museums within the limit of 50% of their reception capacity.
In a statement posted online, the government also decided to maintain the other precautionary restrictions put in place as part of the state of health emergency (ban on festivities, wedding parties, cinemas, public pools, funerals, etc.)
The government also strongly encourages and recommends that all citizens continue to fully and rigorously respect all the preventive measures adopted by the health authorities, particularly due to the health risks associated with the summer period and the celebrations of Eid Al-Adha. Thus, all residential neighborhoods or areas constituting new epidemic outbreaks will be closed and access restricted with the strengthening of control measures.
In addition, similar measures will be implemented in all production and service units, as well as in tourist establishments that do not comply with the applicable health rules and protocol.
