Morocco Emerges as Top Destination for Israeli Tourists Following Diplomatic Normalization

After the normalization of relations between the kingdom and Israel, Israeli tourists have repeatedly expressed their interest in Morocco. What are the assets of this destination?
Morocco has assets that seduce Israeli tourists. These include the desert, seaside resorts, heritage, monuments, folklore, gastronomy, architecture, hospitality, hotels, crafts, souks, spices, ksours, oases, proximity to Europe, gateway to Africa, high-speed trains, highways, etc. In addition to these assets, what also attracts Israeli tourists are the historical and cultural ties between the Israeli community of Moroccan origin (estimated at 1 million people) or the Jewish diaspora in the world and Morocco.
"Certainly, this is a solid foundation, but we will have to go beyond it by giving more meaning to this nostalgia inscribed in the attic of the imagination," said Ahmed Ghayet, secretary general of the Salam Lekoulam collective, whose honorary president is André Azoulay, advisor to King Mohammed VI, to L’Économiste. "The reunions between the peoples of Morocco and Israel have shown that there is real work to be done with civil societies on both sides. Grassroots work to reclaim the common history, memory, revive memories, without remaining in nostalgia... And above all, project ourselves into the future," he added.
