Morocco’s Economy Shows Resilience Amid COVID-19, IMF Reports

Severely affected by the global health crisis, the Moroccan economy has withstood it thanks to the strong measures taken by the government. It has been less impacted in the MENA and Central Asia region, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Morocco is considered a very good student in terms of managing the Covid-19 crisis, explains Jihad Azour, director of the Middle East and Central Asia department at the IMF, to Le360. According to the IMF official, the Moroccan economy is among the least impacted, compared to other countries in the MENA region. The former Lebanese Finance Minister indicated that the fund is preparing to revise downward the growth forecasts announced last April.
Referring to the long-standing close cooperation between Morocco and the IMF, the official noted that this partnership has been strengthened over the past 8 years. According to him, this cooperation has also contributed to strengthening the stability and resilience of the Moroccan economy.
