Morocco’s Economic Council to Release Report on Combating Child Marriage

The Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) will give its opinion on Thursday, September 19 on child marriage in Morocco. The Council has taken up this issue "in the face of the extent of the practice of child marriage in Morocco", in order to study the reasons and stop this practice, the consequences of which are numerous.
To succeed in this challenge, the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) plans to raise awareness among the perpetrators of this practice, in order to contribute to producing a lasting impact, through the theme: "What to do in the face of the persistence of child marriage in Morocco?".
Several debates have been held to resolve this file, reports leseco.ma. To this end, the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) has also taken up the issue, reminding the stakeholders involved in the phenomenon that the legal age of marriage, set by the legislator, is 18 years old, while taking into account the "derogations" in exceptional cases of the Family Code.
