Morocco Eases Import Rules for Vehicle Parts for Residents Abroad

The Moroccan Customs Guide for Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE) specifies the rules for importing spare parts for vehicles.
In the event of a breakdown or accident occurring on Moroccan territory, travelers can import the necessary parts to repair their vehicle.
The import of these parts is done under the temporary admission (TA) regime, which means that they are exempt from customs duties. However, this procedure is subject to certain conditions.
The import request must be made by an assistance company approved by the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration. The imported parts are then recorded in the customs computer system in the name of the vehicle importer.
At the end of the stay, the replaced parts must be re-exported. If the motorist wishes to leave them in Morocco, he will have to pay the applicable duties and taxes.
Travelers are therefore advised to inquire about the procedures to be followed and to check that their assistance company is authorized to carry out the import formalities.
