Morocco Dissolves National Team of Local Players Ahead of 2023 CHAN

The national team of local players no longer exists. The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaâ, announced its dissolution on Wednesday during a press conference.
"The last gathering of the national team of local players took place in Austria," said the FRMF president, during the press conference at which Walid Regragui was presented as the new coach of the Atlas Lions. He explained that Houcine Ammouta, who had been leading this selection of local players, has returned to Wydad de Casablanca. This justifies the dissolution of this team.
For the next African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to take place in Algeria in 2023, Morocco will be represented by the U23 national team, he specified. This same selection, which is preparing for the Africa Cup of the category that will take place in Morocco in 2023, is qualifying for the next Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
